Peckham Krav Maga’s history:
Our first Krav Maga club was set up by Remi Lessore in 2005 in Tulse Hill under the supervision of Gilles Hassine from the European Federation of Krav Maga (FEKM). As instructors qualified within the club we grew & new branches opened in West Norwood & then in Peckham. We have been operating in South-East London for over 20 years; we consolidated our various venues into the Peckham club in 2020 following Covid lockdowns & restrictions.
Note: In September 2018 Peckham Krav Maga chose to leave the FEKM-UK to operate independently whilst still adhering to the high technical standards instilled in it through its years with the FEKM.
What is Krav Maga?
Genuine Krav Maga must be FAST, SIMPLE, EFFECTIVE & CONTROLLED.
Krav Maga literally means contact combat in Hebrew. It was developed by Imi Lichtenfeld in the 1930s to protect the Jewish community in Czechoslovakia. In 1948 he became Chief Instructor for the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) and later founded the Israeli Krav Maga Association (IKMA). Krav Maga is now taught worldwide to military, police and civilians alike.
Its popularity has seen it featured in films like The Debt, Taken, Enough, Jack Reacher, Mission Impossible, and The Gunman with Sean Penn.

Who is the FEKM?
The FEKM (European Federation of Krav Maga) was founded by Richard Douieb, appointed by Imi to expand Krav Maga in Europe. Today it has over 20,000+ members across 11 countries and is the largest Krav Maga organisation in the world.
